Maurice Logan Mitchell, 42, of Annapolis, has been identified by investigators as the victim who was struck and killed in Prince George’s County on Monday, May 1.

At approximately 4:15 p.m. on Monday afternoon, troopers from the College Park Barrack were called to US Route 50 near Maryland Route 193 to investigate a reported pedestrian-related crash.

The initial investigation determined that the pedestrian, later identified as Mitchell, walked into traffic and was struck by an oncoming tractor-trailer. He was rushed to the University of Maryland Capital Region Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead from his injuries.

State Police officials said that further investigation found that Mitchell was considered a suspect in a stabbing that happened earlier in the day in Annapolis that is under investigation by local police.

She was airlifted to Maryland Shock Trauma and was listed in serious, but stable condition.

Officials noted that the driver of the tractor-trailer remained at the scene following the pedestrian strike, and Route 50 was closed for approximately four hours following the crash as the Maryland State Police Crash Team investigated.
